    Why flu vaccine is important for babies?

    Vaccine can prevent common cold and cough due to influenca disease that used to seriously harm or even kill infant's, children and adults.

    Are vaccine safe?

    Yes. vaccines are very safe. millions of children who receives vaccines each year, have more immunity than other non vaccinated children.

    Risk and Benefits of vaccine?

    Vaccines prevent harmful infectious diseases that once killed or harmed many infants or causing mortality and morbidi to many children without vaccine, your child is at risk of getting seriously ill and suffering pain, disability and even death, e.g. whooping cough,tetanus, measles, chicken pox etc the risk benefit ratio, the benefits are more over the risk. there are some minor side effects like pain at injection site, low grade fever, mild swelling at injection site. but the side effects are typically lasts only for couple of days, and are treatable. for eg. applying ice pack over swelling or at the site of injection to relieve the discomfort.

    Why do vaccines starts so early?

    According to the research and data, early age vaccination protects infants and children by providing protection in early life before they come in contact with such life threatening diseases.

    Should my child get vaccination if my baby is sick?

    Firstly, talk to your pediatrician before giving vaccination even if they have mild illness like mild cough/ mild cold / mild fever. If doctor says baby is okay, then your baby can receive vaccination.

    How many hours fasting for Sugar check ?

    8-10 hrs fasting,Only water can be consumed.

    For lipid profile how many hours fasting required ?

    Minimum 12-14 hrs of fasting required.

    Does random cholesterol test require fasting ?

    No Random Cholestrol does not require fasting but of course if it is complete Lipid Profile ,,10-14 hrs of fasting is required.

    For T3,T4, TSH /Thyroid Profile is fasting Mandatory ?

    No only 2hrs fasting post breakfast No overnight fasting required.

    Only if your Physician has recommended

    For Iron studies is fasting required and is morning sample must ?

    Morning sample is good as it has diurnal variations.

    For ESR is fasting a must ?

    6hrs fasting required.

    For specialised tests like Sr.Cortisol level can blood be given any time of the day ?

    8am only Fasting. & 4 pm (post lunch, Have lunch at 2pm).

    For Hba1c (Glycosulated Hemoglobin) is fasting required ?

    No, fasting is not required

    For any Hormonal tests rg.Sr.Prolactine,Sr.Testosterone is fasting required ?

    Fasting is required and also tests should be done in the morning till 11 am only.Not beyond that.

    How important is Mammography?

    Screening sonomammography is considered the international gold standard for detecting breast cancer early. Mammograms can usually find lumps 2 or 3 years before you or your primary care provider can feel them by palpation.

    Do I really need a Mammogram?

    Screening sonomammography is necessary for woman age 40 or older and for younger woman with a family history of breast cancer.

    What does a Mammography show?

    The doctor reading your mammogram will be looking for different types of breast changes, such as small white spots called calcifications, abnormal areas called masses, and other suspicious findings that could be signs of cancer.

    Gynecological Imaging

    Ultrasound is almost always the 1st-line imaging modality of choice to evualating the female reproductive system, Imaging of the internal female reproductive organs (including the uterus,ovaries, fallopian tube) is indicated to diagnose common gynecologic complaints, most commonly in cases
    - Uterine fibroids
    - congenital anomalies
    - Suspected ovarian or fallopian tube masses
    - Cysts
    - Malignancy
    -E ctopic pregnancy
    - Abnormal uterine bleeding

    -Abnormal menstruation, including irregularities in frequency, duration and volume

    - Postmenopausal bleeding
    - Pelvic pain (looking for structural causes)
    -Assessment of the presence and location of intrauterine devices (eg. Cu T, mirena etc)
    - Evaluation of congenital anomalies Infertility

    For Arterial or venous Doppler any specific?

    A colour Doppler ultrasound is the non-invasive, painless procedure. Most of the people get little discomfort while doing the test.

    What is Ultrasound /sonography?

    An Ultrasound scan is medical test that uses high frequency sound waves to capture the live images from inside the body.

    An Ultrasound allows your doctor to see problems with organs, Vessels and tissues without making an incision.

    Unlike other imaging techniques , ultrasound has no radiation, hence it's preferred method for viewing a developing foetus during pregnancy.

    What are the preparation of usg?

    Steps to be taken depend on area or organ that is being examined.

    Doctor may tell you to fast for 8 to 12 hrs before usg,as undigested food can block the sound waves,and making it difficult to get clear picture.

    For A + P
    (To see the gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, liver, intestine)

    Eat Fat Free Meal
    the evening before your test and then to fast until songraphy completely done.
    However you can continue to drink water and take any medication as instructed.

    For KUB
    Drink a lot of water and hold your urine so that urinary bladder is full and doctor get better visualization of kidneys, ureters as well as urinary bladder.

    For Obstetrics scan
    (Early Obs, Growth Scan, NT Scan, Anomaly Scan)
    Eat healthy food either heavy breakfast.
    Eat sweets as sugar rush increases the fetal movements and that helps in scanning the fetus in variable position.
    Drink water as per your need but make sure to empty the urinary bladder.
    You can take the routine medications as prescribed by your gynecologist before coming to ultrasound scan.
